From what I understand, free diving masks are just generally superior to normal masks, mainly in that the volume is less and equalizing is easier? So why do scuba divers not all use free diving masks?

Yes, freediving masks do have lower volumes - but you also lose some field of vision due to the mask sitting closer to your face. In freediving, especially competitively - you don't need too great of FOV as you are following markings in a pool for dyn or a line for depth. I find it also helps to focus more without having things off to the side distract me. You can absolutely use freediving masks for scuba - I've used the minima and sphera and others plenty - however scuba masks offer a bit more field of vision.

I also Have the Minima and the sphere and they are both very good masks. I tend to use my Sphere a little more because of the wide field of view. One thing to consider is will you use the mask for spearfishing or not. The Sphere has a rounded plastic lense which will take a little getting use to because of it's refractory properties. The Sphere will also scratch easy but they will not be seen once in the water. The Minima has a slighty narrower head strap than most freedive masks and the Sphere's is even narrower so don't expect a wide beefy strap if that is what you prefer. Not sure what 25 lire is today but if you can get them under $45/each you are doing good.
