Man dies after scuba diving off Keaukaha Friday (July 1) | Hawaii 24/7
Big Island police have initiated a coroner’s inquest case in connection with the death of a diver on Friday (July 1) in waters off Hilo.

At 9:12 a.m., South Hilo patrol officers responded to a report of an unresponsive man at Waiolena Beach Park in the Keaukaha area.

A 52-year-old man identified as Mickey McGuire of Kea’au had been scuba diving and was found unresponsive 25-feet underwater. Fire Department rescue personnel took him to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:42 a.m.
