I wonder how much, if any, of this advisory applies to Catalina. Anyone think the pollution extends that far out? I hope not, since we were thinking of hitting Casino Point on Monday.

Hope not, I was there last sunday and gonna be out there on sat also :)
Not shore diving though. Vis was decent last week even though it started raining for last 2 dives

I flew up to SF yesterday from LAX and had a nice window seat with a view of the coastline. The water closest to the coastline looked quite brown and nasty, of course you can see that in the link Jim posted.

Jim - thanks for posting that link. I couldn't remember the name of that website, and have been wanting to revisit it for a long time. Thanks to you, it's now safely bookmarked. The coastal areas look pretty bad, but I think the delta where the Colorado River empties into the Sea of Cortez in Baja is the worst. You literally can't tell where the land ends and the ocean begins.

Catalina doesn't look too bad, thus raising my hopes for this Monday. I'll also be watching the Avalon cleanup thread for reports on the viz.
