Hello All,
Just want to say that the information on this board has been extreemly helpful. I live in Denver and WILL be getting OW certified. I'm probably going to wait a couple of months so I can completed my dives during my Mexico trip in March. However, any input on good dive instructors/schools in the Denver area would be greatly appreciated :crafty:

Hi there dimitrik,

No experience needed and it feels great!

Welcome to ScubaBoard! :happywave

You may want to complete your training before you go to Mexico. This will give you a chance to practice the skills you learn before you get there and may add to your enjoyment when diving in Mexico. I believe this would be the case even if you practice the skills in a pool.

Don't forget to fill out your profile and dive info, so that we can add context to your future posts. Also, once we know where you are geographically from your profile, you may find that you'll have a whole bunch of new dive buddies to choose from locally.

Dive safe!

Christian

P.S. Due to the high volume of new posts in the Introductions and Greets forum, it's not always possible to keep up with all the new posts here. So, please help me out and send me a PM if you post anything you want me to read or repsond to in this forum.

Howdy!

And welcome to SB - the biggest, the best, the fastest growing, and :D the friendliest!

Why not get into it now? All the Colorado shops go to Santa Rosa NM for check-outs, and the spring water is always the same there - 62F. Then you can be ready to enjoy diving in Mexico!

Sizing a photo for your profile or Avatar can be a challenge; I'm a fumbling amateur, but I get the job done, if you'd like any help? PM me if I can help you learn your way around; that is - click my username to the upper left, then follow the prompts to send me a "Personal Message."

And if you're going to be in Houston this tonight - for the DEMA show or any other reason, you're even invited to a SB Bar-B-Q dinner! Click here: http://scubaboard.com/t73366-swampers-bbq-update-and-current-info.html or PM me for assistance in signing up for it. Dee wanted to know sooner, but she can squeeze a few in late. I wouldn't miss this for anything! :thumb:

I also live in Denver. Congrats on your decision to join us underwater. It is great down here!

I started my certification with a private instructor and completed my OW dives in Puerto Morelos, Mexico (Dive Puerto Morelos). This was a great place for a beginner. Not crowded at all. Lots of individualized instruction. Since then, I did my AOW with Underwater Phantaseas in Lakewood. I highly recommend each. Please let me know if you want more specific information.

My last dive in Colorado was a couple of weeks ago. Water was 57 degrees. I do not use a drysuit yet. Not that bad, but it was about as cold as I ever want to be again.

:crafty: Welcome!!!
