I'll be doing my first dives this fall in the ocean looking for some advice on weighting

Right now:

6'1 200lbs
7mm farmer john
Aluminum 80
Steel BP
14lbs of weight

November:

3mm full or possibly shorty (high 70's water temp?)
alum 80
steel bp
???

SD,

Unless I'm missing something it looks like you are seeking a **guess** as to the buoyancy difference between a 7mm farmer john suit and a 3mm shorty.

We don't make or sell wetsuits. You might want to post his question in a General Forum.

Having said that in my experience most "7mm suits" are between about 18 to 24 lbs and most 3mm suits are 4-5 lbs or less positive.
