I didn't buy anything this Black Friday, but if you are talking about backordered items then that is usual for HOG. I had a surface marker buoy backordered for months from DRIS until I decided to take a Zeagle one instead. I ordered a wing from Piranha and that took a while to receive also.
Interesting... I did not think this was more common. I was told my black Friday order was going to wait until mid-February. In one of the places I called, I was told that some of the popular black Friday models were in fact discontinued, and they bought pretty much all the remaining stock. I am confused...
if $470 is the price, that's going to ruin his market share because the only thing he has going left is the parts availability, but most of us have ways of getting them from Hollis and Dive Rite. To jump that D3/Zenith from $325 to $470 though is going to run most people away.
Good for you, for those of us not connected or affiliated with dive shops, the availability of parts and training was a major selling point. I know for me that was pretty much the whole reason. I am not prepared to pay $470 at this point, either... but then again, now that I'm already several reg sets invested in the future of this experiment, I just hope that the company doesn't go out of business or change their policy with respect to the availability of parts to individual divers... whatever it takes... if they need to charge more to stay alive, then so be it.
