You guys are going about it all wrong. I told my wife I was going to buy a rebreather. She told me I should spend the money and buy the best there is. So I did. Just got my megalodon last week. I will probably pick up a bunch of flowers for her.:sappy:

So here is the dilemma...How do you explain to a non-diving spouse the reason that you keep making new dive equipment purchases? Especially when the your equipment you are replacing is still working fine. I've had to do this a lot lately with purchasing a new Vytec DS, a gear bag, slate, a sausage and a few other things as well. Help, I'm running out of reasons to buy new stuff. So, I would like to hear what reasons you have given to a non-diving spouse when buying new equipment.

BTW, the "safety concerns" reason is running on its last leg. :D

Thats nothing, wait till you start buying tanks, then a couple more tanks, then another pony, then 2nd and 3rd reg set.

This isn't a hobby, it's an addiction.

My husband never has to explain anything--he just has to be able to afford two!:D
Well... there is that!
Rick :)

Easy...turn your non-diving spouse, into a diving spouse.:D

Then you won't be able to afford new toys!

FLOWERS ! !! ! JUST FLOWERS ! ! ! !
Man, have you no shame ????

It's guys like you who give us a bad name !!!! :11:

My wife also saw the scubatoys on the credit card. I told her not to worry. It wasn't more dive gear, just an internet porn site.

Then of course there is "But this is a life support instrument. You want me to be safe don't you?" That's when she asks if it would just cost less to increase my life insurance. I don't see her point.

On the more serious side, I also have my stash account that is used for emergencies like a new tank or whatever. Then my son comes along & says "Cool new tank dad. When did you get it?"

if she doesn't dive, just make sure she has her own expensive hobby.

Just sneak it in the house and put in in the pile with the rest of the stuff no one will notice. :D

I've been doing this already with the dive gear and she does it with her shoes. So what is the problem? Well, my toys just keep get more expensive. I've told her that it is better than a drug habit. I just need to make sure that she never makes it on to Scubaboard because she would for sure find out that scuba diving is like a drug habit. ::::Must stay quite about where I spend so much time at!::::

It appears that I have learned a new trick today!!! I need to follow the advice from one of the females and knocking off 70% of the sale price.

No matter what method I try... I always get caught.

Just need to be upfront and get it.. and make sure she has her own $$ to buy some toys as well.

 It appears that it is time to buy off the son, just like my dad use to do with me after he would purchase a new gun. Just remember that once he gets older it is going to cost you more.
