Zero buyer protection here, the seller is in complete control. Yahoo will not enter into any disputes, they leave it totally up to seller and buyer to resolve. The worst a buyer can do is post negative feedback but unless you win the auction you can't even do that.

Mark him as non-grateful!…. Forget about it !

Happens on eBay, too, there's a way to say you no longer have the item and cancel the auction, even after it ends with a winning bidder. Had that happen to me, when a guy sold the item on FB for more than my winning eBay bid.
