It might give some of the locals a little more respect for that piece of road. And some
press that might remind those who drive it rarely. We have one really twisty road where
they put oddball speed limits on it (18 MPH, 21 MPH there). Same idea.

Sometimes a sign like that is odd enough to get through the fog and be noticed but not so odd that the meaning is lost.

When I was in Germany they have signs like that, most of the ones I saw were along the Rhein River. They have a lot of roads that lead to ferry points and afterdark when you are zipping along you don't realize that it is not a road but a ferry point.
