You may owe the OP an apology.
At Cozumel this week my DM suggested I add air to or subtract air from my BC a couple of times when I was finning a lot to maintain my buoyancy. That advice was well taken. He also helped me locate my buddy when I forgot to keep track of where he was and misplaced him a couple of times.
With only 22 dives you're not as safe in the water as someone with 300 dives.
You guys with your generous offers of meeting up with Matt keep missing something in the "Matt's rules of what he wants to do".
Matt only wants to dive in warm water. In his earlier posts he explained that he will not dive locally, only on "dive trips".
So his diving world is composed only of vacation diving at common vacation dive sites. This is his wish.
Now if someone told him that they would go with him to a warm water resort, that might be acceptable!
I do think though that it is impolite for Matt not to even respond to your offers.
Thanks.
Again, perfect example of why AOW should have a pre-requisite of 50 dives and rescue should require 100 dives before you can take it.
Matt's statement demonstrating he doesn't even have buoyancy dialed in yet, yet is rescue certified perfectly demonstrates why divers need dives to gain experience before progressing with training and advancing their dive profiles. Matt's statement that he still hasn't figured out that he needs to remain close enough to his buddy to avoid losing him, again perfectly demonstrates why divers need to gain experience and get basic skills dialed in before advancing to advanced training.
Being a rescue diver with 20 dives is like thinking you're a mountain climber because you climbed the indoor wall at REI last weekend.
Hopefully Matt catches up on the experience side to match his cards. Based on this quote from him I think he understands it's an issue to be aware of.
