I have the oxycheq mach V signature 30lbs. THe inner bladder is larger than its outer cover, so the bladder already considerably squashed up even when fully deflated, and gets even worse when fully inflated, specially near the inflator hose inlet.

Is this normal? Will the bladder soon crack along the creases?

No one has a clue?

I've got a couple hundred dives on mine and have had no problems. The bladder still looks/feels as new.

Why don't you send some pictures of it to Patrick at Oxycheq so he can check it out? I'm sure he would be able to spot any problems. :palmtree: Bob

Apparently permanent crease marks at each end

Comparing lengths

I measured: The length of the flattened bladder is about 76cm. Length of flattened outer cover is about 65cm.

I'll try contacting Patrick too, thanks for the reminder, it had completely slipped my mind to ask the maker directly

Well, good for you. But is your wing's bladder too large and creasing up inside your outer jacket as well? I'm a perfectionist, I don't like the idea that my wing (costing a few hundred dollars) has such a IMHO major defect. It niggles at me incessantly :depressed:

Someone mentioned this in the past. Apparently some manufactures make only a few different internal bladders to fit the outer jacket of different lift capacity wings. Kinda makes sense that wing lift is proportional to outer jacket size.

I would think it would be better for the bladder to be a little squished rather than having to excessively stretch to expand to the volume of the shell.

I have a DSS LCD and it is a little squishy as well but not to the extent of yours. I would guess that some of the squishiness has to do with the fact that it is a donut. Considering the top and bottom of the bladder are cut from the same die and welded together in a flat plane when you add air to it the bladder has no choice but to "pucker" at the corners.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to use the word squishy so many times!

Yes, mine is the same as your's. I don't think it's a defect. Get over it and go diving!

I finally found the answer from Oxycheq:
http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/oxycheq/250359-oxycheq-mach-v-signature-18-lb.html
"Also, each of the bladders is match for the outer shell. This keeps air from trapping and keep the outer shell from taking the brunt of inflation or over inflation.

There are companies that use a single size inner bladder for various outer shells. This cause trapping of air & premature wear on the outer seams. Once the seams stretch they tend to allow small particulates (sand and other) to get through the holes. Once theses particulates are inside the seams it acts as sand paper overtime... eventually getting in between the shell and inner bladder to cause increased wear on it too."

So I guess I got a blem version......
Yes, mine is the same as your's. It's not a defect. Get over it and go diving!
And so did you. And I will be going diving next month!
