Hi,
I just received a new Apeks regulator set and the air when breathed through both 2nd stages smells like oil and rubber.

The air from the cylinder itself seems to be odorless.

Is this normal? I only tried it at a surface and the smell was rather pronounced, something like 3 on a scale of 0 to 10.

I had that with a new hose. It disappeared after a few weeks.

It's from the new hose. It goes away after a few to several dives but is not what you would call pleasant tasting.

If you are handy with tools you can remove the hose and run hot water through it to remove what ever it is. Just let things dry thoroughly before you put it back together.
