Hi all. I guess you've wondered why you haven't heard from me in a while. My knee has been getting worse and worse since my trip to the BVI's. I went to a specialist in Dallas at Southwestern about the Osteonecrosis, and was told in no uncertain terms that I have to quit diving. That doctor's associate was also there and he has 200 dives to date. He said he'd quit in a heartbeat if he had my problems. I probably ruined any good that the surgery in December did for my knee.

It's time to start selling my gear. It's all practically new, so I shouldn't have much trouble. I guess I haven't felt much like posting or reading others' posts. It's not much fun reading about diving when you can't do it.

I'll be thinking about you, and who knows, maybe I'll show up for a dinner or something.

Patty

I'm so sorry, Patty. We've been pulling for you, hoping the surgeries and treatments would do some good.

Don't give up the dive life yet. Maybe you can't dive but there's always a place for good ground crew. Since Brenda learned to dive, we need an official Camp Momma! What I'm trying to say is you'll always have a place amongst us! :cuddle:

I don't know what I would do if personally faced with such news...
But then the way it sounds they didn't give you a choice.

I'm sorry to hear that you can't dive anymore. It was great having you at our get togethers and I hope we'll still see ya some.

I'm real sorry that they've "pulled the plug" on your diving. However, your health and safety is of utmost importance.

I am sorry to hear that. Remember you health is more important. I know that doesn't make it feel any better but keep it in mind.

Chad

Patty,
I'm very sorry to hear this news. As the others have said, while giving up diving hurts, your health is more important.
Please remember that you have the support of those that have only met you "electronically", as well as those you know in real life.
While it may not seem like much now, hang on to the memories, for as we know, they are very special.
Best wishes,
be well,
Mike

You may want to check to see if your DR would have any objections to shallow diving, well within the NDLs. 25' & less has unlimited bottom time, and there is all sorts of stuff to see that shallow.
If there's no objection to snorkeling, there shouldn't be any to keeping shallow.
Better ask Ernie, our resident ScubaDoc.
Swimming is good PT at any rate.
