Teresa, Glycerin (Josh), and I meet up at the Catalina Express in L.B. at about 5:30 as planned. We checked in and boarded the Express at 6:15am. The ride over was a little bumpy and rocked (literally). Off the boat and into a taxi. at the point and into our gear and the first dive was on. Josh dived his Pinnacle 7mm with a vest, and I dived my dust collecting drysuit. We ended up doing 4 dives in all. The first we went out to see the Kismet and the glassbottom boat. The last time I seen them they were together. Suprise, just the Kismet was there we looked around, but, no glassbottom boat. Does anyone know were it went?
Our second dive we went along the kelp and reefs to the left. We went to the two trees(or poles?) and looked for Oscar. He was hiding, we never found him. There was a huge school of smelt, intermingled with various other fish, that was amazing to watch. Our third and forth dives were to the right. we investigated small caves, holes and every nook and crevase we could find, there were a million banded gobies, black eyed gobies, lobster, calico bass, kelp bass, sheephead, senoritas, Blacksmith and various other species. We had a huge sheephead swimming with us for awhile. His comical looks made us laugh. he disapeared for a minute, and Josh looked behind him, there was Mr. Sheephead with mouth open, and teeth showing, trying to sneek up on him and take a nip! When Josh looked at him, he just had a look as if to say "oops you caught me" and he swam away. All in all, we had a great time. It started to sprinkle as we went in for our last dive, but it was good weather the rest of the day. This is what going, checking the conditions, and deciding to dive or not, is all about. Thanks Catalina for another great memory!
