You can replace by:

That is like saying it's his fault if a dude gets robbed while walking at night in a dark alley. While not wise, he is not doing anything illegal and blaming him instead of the robber is seriously wrong.

Why is it a bad subject? Seems that some take whaling lightly and other seriously. . .I believe Wardric made the point he was trying to make. . .

Are you speaking in terms of the ship/s being the one/s that gets robbed? Who then is the robber?
