Does anyone know if they allow diving on lake bomaseen in VT? My girlfriend's familiy just moved there and we are visiting this weekend. I was wondering if I should take my dive gear.

Thanks,
Chris

I hope you like Eurasian Milfoil :yuck:

I don't know anything about it really. So, it sounds like I can leave my dive stuff at home :)

...that, or you could drive 45 mins to Burlington and dive on some 100+ year old shipwrecks in Lake Champlain :)

Hmm, just found it

Near Castleton....The organizers of that website must've been smoking something: "Vermont's Largest Lake". They must mean the largest lake fully contained within only VT.
The largest Lake within VT is Lake Willoughby, which has some good diving BTW. As for Bomoseen, there is some diving, but like Gidds said, it's loaded with Milfoil. If you're in Castleton, drive to West Rutland and dive the quarry or come up where I live in Burlington and dive the wrecks. Check this link for directions and info on the wrecks. I work at this LDS part time, PM me and I can hook you up with a charter operator. :D Victory Sports Local Dives

Doesn't look that way on a map...Bomoseen looks much larger in area, but I still think the Bomoseen people are smoking something to call it VT's largest lake when Champlain and Memphremagog are both much much larger.

http://reference.allrefer.com/gazetteer/B/B08453-bomoseen-lake.html says it is the "Largest lake wholly within Vt."

You're right, I just checked...Bomoseen is 2300 acres, Willoughby is just under 1700......but the diving is still better in Willoughby....lol :D
Funny, living here in VT, I had always heard that Willoughby was the largest within VT.
Oh well, learn something new everyday
