Opps the New Yorker is the boat, read other thread. upside down and on the surface. I guess Joe didn't plan that one very well. So where is he planning on sinking it, if he can ever get it below. :D

Actually the New Yorker ended up right where we wanted her. Just off of
Pebble Beach where we dove in July. Problem is she flipped over and came
to rest upside down. Some divers tried to turn her over with lift bags and I
think what happened is, some ballast rock fell out and she floated up due to
the bouyancy of the hull. Joe tied her off to the volley ball court to keep her
from floating randomly around the quarry. Last I talked to him 2 weeks ago,
he said if they could not get her scuttled on the bottom, he would just drag
her over to the shallow side and give up. Would be a shame, nice boat!
It was a hazard to noobie divers last time I saw her, check out the photo
closely and you will see one of the ballast stones hanging in the cabin.

Cool so there should be something to landmark between Pebble Beach and the cop car. Now if I could only get the Princess to buy a compass.:D

I did not make it out. I'm ready to go back and check out the New Yorker,
I'm wondering if it is still floating under the surface like last time.
Let me know what time Sun you want to meet.

I plan on trying to make at least 1 day at BS maybe 2.

Thanks for the directions Brian.

Hey land

Are you talking about the New Yourker at Joe's? If you are I saw it after completion of my last OW cert dive Aug 13. Since we had 1800 left in the tanks we were "graduated" to diving with our buddies so we explored Joe's and found the boat it's under the surface volley ball net. It's down around 20ft upside down by the bow. Can't really see much of the inside with this orientation though without going inside the back deck area. Which we didn't by the way. The thermocline was just under the stern with a big drop in temp of course.

I was telling Dean, at Divers Den in Somerset, about what happened, and he told me he would get the boat back to the surface and sink it up right, if Joe would discount his fee to enter the quarry and pay for his fuel.

Yep, the new boat at Joe's.
I'm glad your finally doin it! Welcome to an addictive sport and the KPP!
Congrats on your certification, and I'm really glad you had the common
sense not to enter the cabin area of the New Yorker. The way those
boulders were just hanging there is pretty scary. Hope to see you out
at Joe's some time!
