I leave for Phuket on the 5th of Feb. 4 days Phuket, 9 days Koh Lanta, 4-5 on the MV White Manta in the Similans then back to Phuket. Cant wait!

Is mid march too late to dive the similans I am hoping to get to Thailand by then, work commitments permitting.
I am told by March and April the best of the diving has past?

I have read this several times today - who is spreading rumours about March and April being no good?! Great time to dive the Similan Islands. Weather - hot and calm, maybe an occasional thunderstorm due to the heat. Best time of year for large pelagics. Season carries on until early May.. weather can start to get iffy by end of April, but normally OK into May.

Thanks for that, looks like I may be able to fly out in about 6 weeks. Any recomendations for a short live aboard trip?

Hi Penguintom,

Do at least a four night trip to Similans and the northern sites - excellent chance to see the BIG fish.

There is a great choice of Similan liveaboards to suit most budgets.

Hi Lifesabeach,

I would book something in advance to make sure you get what you want....MV Black Manta has some places for her departure on 23 February.

Have a great trip!
