And you feel that I am in need of therapy becuase I want my 280 bucks?
Uh...thanks for the tip, but perhaps YOU are the one in need of therapy....maybe you and Art.chick can get a group rate..? :D

Crink,

I think your missing the point. What I would do is deal with the problem and move on, not continue to wine ad nasium. It appears that you have some deep seated need to feel persecuted and have everyone say “poor Crink, boy did he get screwed.” At the risk of becoming repetitive get over it and move on.

Mike

'wine ad nasium' now that sounds like a fun weekend, but seriously.

I'm not sure what makes you think I need to feel persecuted. This company treated me unfairly and I'm trying to rectify the situation. That's it. Period.

You can criticize me, as others have, for trying too hard to let the LDS deal with this without involving the credit card people. That's fine.

But to say that you think I need to feel persecuted...well, sorry but that's way off base. I know you don't know me at all, but please take into account that the whole topic of this thread is only a little, tiny, minute part of my life.

I actually feel like one of the luckiest guys around. I've got a great life that I enjoy very much. My new hobby, diving, is something that I think will add to that.

Finally, I didn't come to this board and start this thread looking for sympathy. I have lots of friends who can sit back with me and say 'wow, what a lousy company, those guys stink.'
I came here because I was so confused by the reaction of the LDS to my request for a refund, that I wanted to make sure I wasn't mistaken about the costs involved, and to make sure that I wasn't missing some part of the puzzle.
Thanks to all who helped me confirm everything.

Crrink I personally would be going after the whole amount. They have showed a complete and utter lack of integrity. Playing the nice guy is only going to get you screwed. Let the credit card company work it out, that is why you pay 2-3% on each transaction.

After threats of litigation for extortion by the shop owner I have zero sympathy for him.

Maybe you could take the refund money when you get it and throw a big party! Get some fruit trays? Some cheese? And some of those designer crackers?

I'd suggest that you impose one condition on the guests, though: that no one whine about your thread being too long.

:)

Dude, do you even check out the rest of the board? :peek: There's a wealth of info. at yer fingertips. I don't see yer name anywhere but this thread. Surely you have other questions/opinions. Well, maybe not. :bicker: 37 posts on only one thread. Hummm....Looking forward to yer 10 paragraph response. 'Till then, I'm outtahere. :outtahere:

As I said originally, I've lurked here for a while now.
I have only posted in one other thread - the one about the FBI asking for info. from dive shops.
As a newbie I find there's usually not a whole lot of worthwhile commentary I can add to the threads I read.
I'm not obsessed with post count as many forum members are (not just talking about this forum), and even though I think it's silly that I can't have an avatar until 100 posts or whatever, I plan to continue to only add comments when they'll be worthwhile for other people to read.
Just today I did a search through the forums about Casino Point in Catalina - I'll be diving there on July 6th and 7th with my wife and father in law. Everything I read sounds great, except for the fact that we'll have to wear 7mm suits :upset:
Oh well, unless that whole global warming thing ever kicks in, I guess I'll have to get used to it :D

I'm so sorry for you, Chris. A 7mm suit? :pity: I dove one of those for a while. It's in my closet now. 'Cause I dive a dry suit. Here where the water is never above 45F it's the only way to go. Maybe I can set you up with a good LDS up here to sell you a dry suit? I'm sure they'll take VISA . . . :D

Dances, you one funny dude.
Seriously, though, I've read a little about drysuits, but they seem super cool.
It'll be a tough decision - whether to go for a dry suit cert. or a nitrox cert...can you do both? Haven't really checked out the next step in diving yet.....figured I'd better make sure I like diving in So. Cal first.....otherwise I might become one of those nasty VACATION DIVERS  people on this board seem to disparage them every chance they get!:D

Edit: I mean can you do both at once, of course.

They adjusted things to fit your schedule, it is not their fault you moved.

It is your fault that you did not shop around and find out this LDS as that if they are really the mean, rotten people you make them out to be, it would be easy to find out--like asking for references, past clients, etc. I do not believe anyone in business for him/herself, would just wake up one day and have a revelation that they would just start ticking customers. Usually they have a history of it.

So you paid too much...whose fault is that?

Honestly, who cares if your wife got sick? I mean, why should they rearrange their schedule for it?

6P Rule:

Proper Planning Prevents P*** Poor Performance

Plan better and farther in advance--this life-stuff happens.

Take the offer and shut up.
