I'm sorry for misreading your post, I was under the impression it was too much to hold for him.
 
So it isn't a matter of using the wrong thread size on the adapter, it's a problem with the o-ring being different?

Which, I suppose, ought to bring up the question of whether or not most hydro facilities are even able to test the tank. Something to ask about...

Yes, actually, I have seen at least 3 different o-ring/o-ring groove sizes for 7/8"-14 threaded tanks. Genesis SCUBA, 2216psi SCBA and 4500psi SCBA.

When asking, call it "Genesis SCUBA" because that is what most of the 7/8" SCUBA adapters are called rather than "PST SCUBA".
