Hello,
I am planning a vacation in Malta in late november and am looking for information, advice from anyone who has been there before. I will be staying at the Westin resort and am planning on diving with the local dive shop on the resort. They are called divewise.

any info would be greatly appreciated.

What should I expect in terms of marine life, coral? I have dived in Greece before but that was pretty boring. not much to see.

thanks

Hi,

I was in Malta during june, and stayed in the Westin Dragonara in St.-Julians, though
did some scuba diving with a different dive-centre.
Just like Greece, Malta is in the Mediterean sea, on both locations you would be able
to encounter the same type of marine life. During the dives I saw barracuda, murray eel
, octopus, ...

The underwater scenary is nice, with rocky coast that immerses in the mediterean,
small caves and caverns.
And there's some good accessible wrecks.
Imho this is where Malta is different from most other Mediterean destinations.
This together with the fact that Malta is not big, making the dive sites at driving distance and lots of sites are accessible directly from the coast.

If you have a look at some of the Maltese dive-centres you'll get an idea about
the diving places and what to expect.

The water temperature here is november is around 20C. Not bad in itself but after a few days diving it starts to feel a bit chilly. Bring a semi dry.

In november the weather is turning nasty, cold north winds, storms etc. This can make it feel very unpleasant when you emurge after a great dive.

With the volume of rain we get here during the autumn/winter months visibility at certain sites drops to zero due to run off, so be warned.

old dated post but..

Sea temperature currently 21c, air temperature 23-25c daytime and sunny. A few days its windy but thats about it.

Cold in a 5mm suit but a 7mm+7mm semi dry or drysuit will be lovely here right now.

Visibility 30m+

How about in 1st week of May? I am planning to do my AOW there...I have a 3mm but may get another there instead to suit conditions. what will I need?
