Well, this whole thing is up to the end user.

With the purchase of shark products you support the dirty fishmongers worldwide directly. Because as long as people buy this stuff, they look for supply.

This is where keep-sharks-alive.com starts to act. We don't only fight the big industry, we also try to educate or rather inform the end user.

As soon as nobody buy shark products, there is no need for an industry anymore...

Agreed. But it is really beyond just the individual...the Asian culture instills this desire...Culture is a difficult issue to deal with.
Imagine how hard it would be to get North Florida Rednecks to give up country music and beer for Classical music and good Cabernet...their "neural nets" just won't let this happen :D

Seriously, to change the Asian culture, you need a cross between a Chinese Jaques Cousteu and some kind of "Shark Whisperer" , and you would need him on the State TV stations weekly for several years...you would need to change the younger generations with this entirely different kind of "Zen" or Zeitgeist.

So, to offer a worthwhile idea to this....Since we can't really expect the TV show on Chinese State run TV, the next best option is viral videos on Youtube. Someone needs good footage, and it needs to be created/shot for the Asian market.....the characters the market would need to identify with need to be Asian....if there are demographics on specific ethnicities which are heaviest into sharkfin soup, then this is the ethnic group that needs to be starring in these shark or cool nature/U/W videos that show sharks as necessary. These can't be in English.....It has to be "their culture", not American culture.

But there would be plenty of talent--persons of the correct ethnicity in America , who also dive, who could be in these videos. Fing these people, and start getting them to people like Jim Abernethy to have in his National Geographic footage, Discover TV footage, and Independant films he and others are involved in.
And find someone who can edit in Several of the required dialects

China, Japan, US..... Who gives a crap. Diving with Sharks is fun and yes dangerous. People do dangerous things all the time. I wonder does anybody think about how dangerous it is to drive 80mph on a highway? You have a much better chance of getting hurt going to work then you do diving with sharks. Lets say this.. if you don't like it or think its wrong don't do it. If you like it do it. Its not hard people. And yes it can be that simple and yes I do have a degree. For what its worth.
