mask strap under hood?

Hoods need a hole in them or a valve in order to avoid exhaust inflating them

Correct me if i'm wrong but cave divers put the mask stap under the hood to prevent any tangling hasard with the guideline.

I have put my mask strap under the hoods do it works well, but I rarely do dives that require that any more.
