Noting that for deco or other overhead diving 'your dive' includes both your and your buddy's gas planning. It's a point that has been made above but is worth reinforcing.
If you are a high consumer of gas, it is not addressed by just you carrying more gas. The dive plan needs to work to the lowest common denominator (likely your planned consumption and their carried gas).
