I am interested in getting an U/W metal detector.

Which one should I get? I'm just digging around in the Minnesota lakes. So not tooo technical and not toooo spendy.

Thanks
Mike

Depends on how much you want to spend. You would really want to go with a Pulse Induction model or more commonly called a PI. Whites has a couple of nice models in their surf line. Some other manufactures such as Tesoro and Garrett also have some nice models. They all run around the $500-$600 range.

I wanted a detector for years and I did alot of price comparison. Since I dont know anyone with one I decided to go the cheaper route in case I wound up hating Metal Detecting. So I found an older Whites PI 1000 model on Ebay for $275. Its not as fancy as the newer ones, but it does the job. It finds those real deep targets. I found a penny almost 18 inches under the sand. Which ever model you do choose, practice finding stuff on dry land before you take it down.
