I don't see any change coming sadly, with the handover to the saudis, we just lost a diving location...
 
The way I read the article is that no more diving will be allowed out of Egypt, as they are enforcing the fact that the Saudis now own it. What the Saudis plan to do with it will determine the fate of the diving.
 
Let's clarify, the island of Tiran has/has-not been given to SA, depends on the current status. However "diving in Tiran" means the Tiran straits. I was there last in May 2017, going back in October. The reefs that we are used to, Jackson, Thomas, Woodhouse, Gordon... even Laguna are not affected by this. We say Tiran, but that is not Tiran island.
