I was diving yesterday and i noticed that every time I inhaled, gas would be bubbling out of my nose and out my mask. As soon as I stopped inhaling, the bubbles stopped and it doesn't happen when I exhale. It never happened before and I have no idea what it is. Any thoughts?

Perhaps you might want to try concentrating on breathing in deeply and slowly so that the air goes nicely into your lungs?

Explain please?

Do you have an adjustment air flow nob on you 2nd stage If so you may have it all the way open and air has VARY LITTLE resistance . TURN IT DOWN TILL YOU FEEL A Slight DRAG WHEN YOU IN HAIL . I have had some thing similar to what you are experiencing excess air would exit my nose in to mask I just adjust the air flow to were I have a small amount of drag and it stops doing it

Snot good.:D

Need to work on some airway control. Why don't you try taking your mask off UW and see if that causes you to control that airway better.

When does this happen? Ascent? Descent? On the bottom? The entire dive?

Air will expand in the mask on ascent - it's not unusual for the over-pressure to vent out of the mask. Most won't even notice it happening.

On descent or at a constant depth, it sounds like you might have some tendency to exhale from the nose during your breathing pattern?!?

I had a student once that would have air come out of his nose all the time. like there was no valve between the mouthpiece and his nose, in a pool session he ran out of air when the others had 2000# if reducing the pressure at the regulator does not work see a specialist.

I also had a similar experience. You probably consciously exhale into your mask to equalize squeeze. Try consciously blocking your nose while inhaling on your regulator. Equalizing is called 'val salva'. Does someone know if there is a term for conciously closing the nasal air passage ?

I was hovering at a constant depth.

i didn't know it was possible to exhale through your nose while inhaling through your mouth?!?

i should also add that there is very little force behind the air. Simply touching the front of my mask with a fingertip stops the flow and it doesn't force it's way under the skirt
