Yeap, and thank you for the site address.

What do you think about the Vytec from Suunto?
Do you know any prices, both Vytec and VR3?

Hi phant.

I 've got the prices in Euro's. The Vytec will be deffenetly OK. But If you'd buy a Vytec I think after a year or two you'd find y'erself buying a VR3.
The Vytec is good for the initial Tek-diving, but as you gain expierience the dives y'll make will be beyond the possebilety's of the Vytec.

E.g. Trimix is no option for the Suunto. It 'll have 3 gaschange options in stead of ten! with the VR3. Not that you would use all of them, but you dont need to change the pecenteges each dive when you dive different mixtures.

The price of a Vytec 'll be about 1000 € included a wireless gaugetransmitter. I think thats 985 USD.
The VR3 Trimix for open/semiclosed en closedsystem is 1495 €.

The difference of 500 € is deffenetly worth it.

When I started diving I bought a Suunto Favor Air. After 2 years I did my nitroxcourse and than saw that I'had better have bought a computer with Nitrox options. Witch I did, I bougth a Vyper.

When I saw the adds about the Vytec I thought it was great. But when I looked what other computers where availeble I imidietly desided to buy a VR3. And I'm happy with it.
I think it'll be the last computer you'll ever need.

Where have I heard this before??? :tease:

Pete,
you heard right over there with the guy who told you that computers and mix is a great combo...

Sorry - couldn't resist that one - Darwin is still alive and well I see...

Vytec does not have mixed gas capability only 3 mixes of nitrox making it suitable for deep air or other such foolishness. It does however have guage mode.VR3 is more versatile for technical diving as it supports helium based gasses. There was a good article in RSD December issue about tech diving using a computer.

Sorry, I am new to this forum, and therefore I have some "silly" questions, like:

What is RSD?
What is DIR?

I believe RSD would be Rodale's Scuba Diving magazine and web site. (www.scubadiving.com) Though, I missed the article that was mentioned.
DIR stands for Doing It Right. It's a philosophy for diving that stresses minimalism. That's an oversimplification, but I'm sure others who are more familiar with it will respond, too.

This should keep you busy if you're interested in finding out what DIR is in full.
