If you are talking about an immediate reaction to a classic "Out of Gas" signal in which your buddy has not "plugged the hole" with another source of breathable gas then I would donate the reg from my mouth no matter which reg it is.

If it's not that simple then, "It depends."

Hey everyone, if your buddy has an OOG emergency during deco, do you donate your deco reg and switch to your necklace?
Or do you donate your long hose?

Since you refer to the deco reg, I assume it's attached to a deco bottle... Why wouldn't your buddy just go back on his primary gas, recalculate his deco and carry on?

If he's out of backgas too, I say let him drown. To do otherwise would be interfering with Natural Selection.

What for? He can switch to his back gas instead of getting gas from my long hose.
Any tec divers should know the procedure on losing deco gas(es)!! Some of them even wrote down back up plans based on (1) missing 50% (2) missing 100% (3) on back gas alone.
Sharing the 50% and extended the time as suggested would be a easier option.
Another question, what should he do if he is ALONE?

Go to your lost gas plan and execute it.
