We're doing the Aquacat live aboard in late January but need to book one night at a 3 star equivalent on or near Paradise Island. Would welcome any suggestions.

I stayed at the British Colonial Hilton. Its across the bridge and less than 5 minutes way from Hurricane Hole. Its only very short walk from the shopping. Good artificial beach looking right at the cruise ships.

There's a Comfort Suites next door to Atlantis. Close enough that guests have privileges there.

We just stayed there, doing the same AquaCat cruise.

There is a surprisingly good restaurant just across the street- the Jerk Chicken was fine. The rest of the town was closed on Friday night- everything packs up when the pod people disappear. We caught the final gasps of the "straw market"- well, at least they were ripe for dealing at that point.

You can hit the shopping district of the old town before they return in the morning, most shops open at 10:00, so you have some time to scamper through. Expect no bargains.

The Aquacat doesn't tell you a couple of things- in their "all you can drink" on-tap menu, they have two no-sugar soft drinks. A good place to chill upon arrival will be the Green Parrot Bar at the Yacht Club basin- you can't go aboard until late afternoon. If you stop there and leave your bags just outside so the crew can see them, they'll come and snatch them up.

It was a good week, nice boat, excellent crew.
