I had set to dive with Paul today in Bonaire. He had another group to take out, so he set me up with an associate who I texted yesterday to confirm. She called me and informed me that Paul passed away on Christmas. Not diving related, he was hit and killed while riding his bike.

I never met Paul, but everything I read about BonScuba was very positive. My condolences to all his friends and family.

RIP. That is very sad to hear. My thoughts are with his friends and family.

RIP in the big blue sea, Paul. I did my PADI AOW with Paul 4 years ago. A fabulous experience. This is very sad news. My condolences to his family and friends.

Sad news. Paul was a good person, my wife and I enjoyed getting to know him some years back while he was spending time in the Philippines.

I never thought I would be in this part of the forum commenting on one of my friends. Me and my family met Paul in 2019 on our first trip to Bonaire. He was the only dive guide I could find who would take us to see Ostracods outside of the 5 days after a full moon. We had a wonderful Ostracod dive (if the moon sets before the sun sets, you will see them). We did several more dives with Paul throughout our stay on Bonaire and you could see how much he loved the island, and what he was doing with his life.

We finally got back to Bonaire a few months ago and did some diving with Paul and had him escort us for a day trip around the park. It was a great day and we talked for quite a bit about his decision to decide to make the huge decision to give up everything in the Netherlands and move to Bonaire I believe 7 years ago. If you knew Paul at all, you could see how much he loved being as close to the water and nature as possible. He died on the island he truly loved.

RIP my friend. My trips to Bonaire won't be the same anymore.
