Hi

I just returned from Sharm el Sheik with Pegasus Airlines as a group of 8 people. All of our group had check in baggage within our baggage allowance however the agents charged us a further fee because our luggage included dive equipment even though we were under the allowance.

There were many disgruntled (to the point of seething) customers at the check ins.

I am trying to establish if this is airline policy or if it is an Egyptian scam. Either way it is not helpful at this time when tourism in the area is at such a low.

Has anyone experienced anything similar please?

It's a cheap trick, but then Pegasus is known as a low cost airline - so you have to expect problems. Many US airlines have that rule, but have not enforced it - yet. For best results, never tell what's inside.
