Many years ago before I was certified, I saw a diver (well, the SMB anyway) bobbing along the shoreline downtown. In hindsight, I can only assume s/he was treasure hunting, which sounds like a great idea!

Does anyone know if we need to register or get a permit for such, or can we go just get wet?

Don’t even try it due to security issues. You used to be able to get very close to the water intakes (the cribs out on the lake). Now, they have a very clear security perimeter that starts all sorts of bad stuff if you cross them.

i'm talking about shoreline, not the water intakes... and i definitely saw this diver since 9/11.

thanks for the input, though!

It's not allowed. The Flora Hill is outside the Playpen and about as close to shore as is legal. Even that can be sketchy with drunk boaters and jetskis.

bah. makes me wonder who i saw. didn't look official... just a regular everyday diver. maybe doing a survey, supported by a team i didnt see.

makes me wanna skip the smb and go stealth mode! hah. but i know better. thx for the input.
