What's a "sea kitten", and, more importantly, why don't catfish have kittens?

The only possible reason I can see for this sea kitten campaign of PETAs is brainwashing propaganda targeted at young children. Get innocent kids thinking this way before they develop the capacity for rational thought and they'll grow up thinking..........just like PETA.

After reading the Sea Kittens page on PETA, I'm still not sure what a sea kitten is. Is it a cutesy name for fish?
