I'm a Fish!
Anyone have an inexpensive source for pin spanner wrenches. My internet searches are coming up with prices north of $30.00 per wrench. I don't understand why these wrenches would be that expensive.

In particular I am looking for one that will do 1.5" diameter with a 1/8" pin.

Any help???

Anyone have a used one they want to get rid of??? :D

I purchased pin spanner wrenches for overhauling my Apeks first stage from Bloomertool.com.
The 40-42 mm (#891-40) wrenches that I have cost a little less than $17 each.
With shipping, I paid about $21 each.
They are made of a high-grade steel -- sturdier than the ones sold by ScubaTools.
I realize that you specified a tool in imperial units, but perhaps you might be able to use these metric tools.

What first stages are you working on?

Harbor Freight has a set of them for about $30

Need one for my HOG regs.
You may want to consider buying two of the appropriately sized pin spanner wrenches.

If your HOG first stage is the D1 model with the external hydrostatic diaphragm (red rubber thingy), then it's quite similar to the Apeks first stage that I own. In order to remove the environment end cap, I've had to use one pin spanner on the diaphragm clamp and another one on the end cap to help separate the end cap from the diaphragm clamp (turn the wrenches against each other). In any case, I'm glad I bought two of those pin spanner wrenches instead of just one. YMMV.

Good luck with your DIY servicing endeavors...

These things are very common in the car repair field. I've got mine from an automotive tool shop for about $10; take your reg along for size.
