In many cultures around the world, calling somebody or liking them to a dog is one of the worst insults in these cultures. I think that one needs to be careful and not force their own way of looking at things on other people.

There is that scene in season one of the Australian crime drama Underbelly, where someone is killed for that. Though we are talking about violent sociopaths to begin with!
