Some sad news from down under.
One of Australias best temperate dive regions- Port Phillip Bay in Melbourne, Australia is about to be devastated by massive channel dredging and toxic spoil dumping. What makes this worse is that our Governments are proceeding regardless of valid oposition and quoting flawed economic rationalisation.

The last hope of the people rested with one man, Peter Garrett, a successful mainstream musician that captured a nations youth's collective environmental conscience a decade ago. He was the Bono of Australian music. He went on to become the President of the Australian Conservation Foundation. Peter Garrett - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

He is now Australia's Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts.

He now has the power to act instead of just sing about what should be done for the environment and veto this project, but has sold out!!

It's pretty sad. I regularly dive in PPB and outside the heads. I'm pretty sure this is going to affect viz, fish life, pollution levels, etc, etc.
