I was just browsing at Galyans and saw this:

http://www.globetrotter.de/jpg_prod/p/pn01132-.jpg

for only $16.xx !!! Some dive shops sell these for $30 or more.

it's a damn good deal for a light good to 500feet (like I'll ever go that deep!) It's small and fits in my snorkel pocket of my Avid BCD. I havent tested it yet, but i bet its probably good only for emergency situations and as a backup. Damn bright - brighter than my 3-D cell maglite flashlight.

Same price at LP and at Divers Direct.

yeah, plus u gotta pay shipping

I just went to Galyans in Skokie, IL. The price was $16.95 plus 8.5% tax. Total was $18.39. Plus the 1 hour trip. Plus they only had black and graphite.

From LP, the cost to me would be $22.40 delivered. My time is worth more than $4.01 an hour. Obviously, if I needed something immediately, it is worth the trip.

Not everyone lives close to a particular store. That's the nice thing about on-line shopping. One can buy at any time.

you've got it exactly dead on!

online shopping is very convenient. I just happened to be at galyans anyways so it costed me nothing.

stock up! That way when they flood you can just replace them...oh they WILL flood. I bought mine for 20 bucks from a local shop, so 40 bucks for the set WAY cheaper than Scout, I figured hey "I can get me 8 of these for that price" But the lights were soo crapy (they say they are rated to 2000ft) that they flooded reall quick, (mine and one of my buds) and I figured that U/W when you really DID need them and they didnt work, price would not matter as there are no stores selling them U/W...

Point of the story is: an 80 dollar light hurts to buy, but it hurts more to buy that to replace the 2 20 dollar. Now w/ the Photon Torpedos (yeah I know funny name) for $65 its worth it to buy a light you will have forever.

Sorry guys, I just hate the lights and if I can help save someone $$ Il try.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I used mine on a training dive two weeks ago. It worked fine. I'd buy another.
