Scuba diver drowns in Batangas | ABS-CBN News
BATANGAS - A 47-year-old professional scuba diver drowned while swimming in Tingloy town in this province Saturday afternoon, police said.
Senior Inspector Ireneo Bajado, Tingloy police chief, identified the victim as David Lacson de Leon, a resident of One Rockwell in Makati City.
A police report said de Leon, together with other scuba divers, was at the Bahura Dive Site in Maricaban village when the incident happened at around 12:45 p.m.
"Actually they were billeted in a resort in Mabini town and they just went here to Tingloy by boat just to dive without coordinating with us," Bajado said in a phone interview.
De Leon's companion said they were already ascending when they noticed that de Leon was missing.
They found de Leon 89 feet below the surface. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.
Bajado said the weather was fine and the sea was calm when the incident happened.
