What does Sea Hunt and the current TV program NCIS have in commom?

SDM

revision of the question;

What does Mr Bridges of Sea Hunt and Mr. Harmon of NCIS have as a commonality factor?

Acting of course.
Both attended UCLA

Think in terms foot ball & acting...

this should be a snap for an American but difficult for a Brit...maybe???

"Ivan Tors Productions, the firm responsible for such aquatic TV delights as Sea Hunt and Flipper, was the prime mover behind MGM's Around the World Under the Sea. The official stars include Lloyd Bridges, Shirley Eaton, Brian Kelly, David McCallum, Keenan Wynn, Marshall Thompson, and Gary Merrill."
Around the World under the Sea Synopsis

Could it be that David McCallum was in "Around the World Under the Sea" alongside Lloyd Bridges and is currently cast as the medical examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard in NCIS?

"Harmon of Michigan" was the first in a trio of Columbia sports films ("Harmon of Michigan", "The Spirit of Stanford" and "Smith of Minnesota"), each starring a real-life athlete. In this case, the title character was college halfback Tom Harmon, the father of Mark Harmon.

Lloyd Bridges played real-life college football star, quarterback Frankie Albert, in Columbia's "The Spirit of Stanford".

Am I getting close?

You 80% are correct!

One of Mr. Bridges first movies in 1941 was "Harmon of Michigan." Mr. Tommy Harmon was an early football hero and winner of the Thiesman. Tommy Harmon was Mark's father.

Tommy went on to appear in other movies and became a sports news personality in the SoCal area.

Mark received his looks from his mother who was an aspiring Hollywood actress...Tommy appeared as If he carried the ball too many times and ran into a brick wall on each carry-- a product of an era when padding was almost useless...

Now we know "The rest of the story..."
