Hi there folks,

I am a PADI Open Water Instructor... and I'd like to learn the skills necessary for wreck diving.

I know a few years ago there was a member who was offering a program I think he called "Wreckmania" that featured a number of wrecks off Florida.

I'm a warm water only diver -- anyone have suggestions?

Thanks.

Liz

Exactly what do you mean by "wreck diving"?? Do you mean you want to penetrate the wrecks? Dive inside?

If so, might want to look at cave training and then cross over.

Well, this class location is certainly not in warm water, but Monterey is relatively close to you in the Bay Area:

Good report & write-up on the Class:

Use this as comparison criteria for whatever other Wreck Class you look at, down there in Florida. . .

well i see your on the west coats..
but if you wanna fly out to the east coast..
come to Rhode Island and get training on board SEEKER
if yo can dive wrecks in the north east, your set

but whatever you decide...
good luck, have fun and dive safe

Thanks for your suggestions... but... I'm a wimp... no cold water for me... I was hoping to find something happening in Florida or some other warm water locale.

Then I recommend this Dive-Op in Oahu for good warm water Tech/Wreck Training:

The Sea Tiger is an excellent platform for Adv. Wreck Course:

www.oceandiving.com (pompano beach, florida)

Jim is a great guy and has been diving wrecks for ages...

How far do you want to travel? Jo from Island Divers here on Oahu runs a great Wreck Class. There are a couple of artificial reefs about 10 minutes off Waikiki in 90-100ft that he teaches on, including penetration and running lines. BTW, it does get cold here in the winter, dropping down to a numbing low 70s.

Sorry, Kevrumbo beat me to it.
