I remember when I first started diving Catalina 35 years ago. We'd see blue sharks inshore, mainly on the windward side. However, there were usually plenty of blues within a mile of the leeward side and we'd also make a game of counting them when crossing the Channel by boat. I can't remember the last time I saw a blue from the boat.

Shame.

I'd do the San Diego trip, it's a real cage, i.e. submerged. The Aquatica cage is for snorkelers only, very crowded. Great for kids and snorkelers, but in no way a diver experience.

Very short dives with safety divers , maybe two at 15:00 max

Guadalupe v. Farallons

Guadalupe - weeklong liveaboard, food air, etc $2400. warm clear water
Farallons - one day, cold, murky water, $800

When the time comes I know which trip I am doing
