Fantastic pix Tortuga! Any Macro tips?

Glad you enjoyed seeing them

Re: macro tips - this might sound obvious, but it's so true:

Get as close as you can!! And take as many shots as you need until you get one you're happy with!

All those pix were taken with a little $250 Canon Ixus 70/Powershot SD1000 (same thing) in a Canon 40m housing, using the built-in flash, no strobes or any other accessories

I use 'underwater mode' (which basically enhances the red end of the colour spectrum) & macro mode, with the flash forced on. They've all been edited but only by cropping and using the 'auto correct' function in Microsoft Office Picture Manager

As my grandfather used to say, the true secret to being a good photographer is never showing anyone your bad shots (I took about 400 u/w pix on that trip and wound up with ~40 I really like)

HTH :)

Here's a few more:

These were shot with the SeaLife DC600 camera, dual strobe, focus light and +10 diopter

New settings on the camera and a new filter on the focus light (thin white shopping bag and rubber band to hold the over the light as a diffuser). I noticed that I had to play around with the light too much on previous marco shots. I was either burning the image or it was under exposed. The make-shift filter appears to work well.

Wow! It's been a while since anyone has posted their pictures.

I'll attempt to get it started up again...

Here are various shots from December to this past weekend. All these photos were shot with my SeaLife DC600. Some with added focus light and +10 diopter attached, some with "sea" mode, some with external flash and dual SeaLife strobes.

It's not so hard

First, get a +10 wet lens diopter from here (contact them for the price on the adapter and lens for your sealife camera, I think a lens and adapter are in the $400 range)

Reefnet.ca

Then get a focus light like this one (I love this focus light and use it for macro shots more than for focus in dark areas)

opticaloceansales.com
---

The reason I bought the items above for my camera? I already had the camera for a couple of years and learned the settings that worked for me (others get their results from different settings). I reached the limit of the camera (and pushed the limits on some photos), but wanted even better shots from my current camera, so I did some searching and found the above items.

I noticed increased quality of my photos on the first dive I made with the focus light and then later on the first dive with the diopter... A little tweak in settings, added a piece of white plastic grocery bag with a rubber band to hold it down and I had a great diffuser that softened lighting on my macro shots

I also chose these items because they are adaptable to any future camera purchase
