Here is how my trip went starting from East Coast.

Fly to Kuala Lumpur (layover in Hong Kong), stayed one night in Kuala Lumpur to fly to Tawau. But you can do that the same day.

From Tawau, spent the night in Semporna in order to take the first ferry to Kapalai Sipadan Resort. From the Airport in Tawau (super small) taxi to Semporna...sad to see all the Palm Tree fields.

Trip was great at the resort. Be prepared for no wifi (limited) unless you have Google Fi or you buy a SIM. Air conditioning limited. Diving is great every day. I heard some people say it was the greatest...but it was definitely worth trip. I was able to get two days at Sipadan. Resort dive guides are hit and miss. Our first was really good, but one day we got one that tank banged even if he saw a turtle...

After a week of diving did a two day stint at an Urang Utan sanctuary with a visit to the Urang Utan rehabilitation center. It's sad what the fields are doing but the effort is slowly helping the species thrive. The rainforest was amazing and loved seeing all the different kinds of monkeys in their natural habitat. Thanks for posting the trip report & pictures.

I heard Sipadan is well known for the schooling of barracudas (swirling like tornado) & some other pelagic sitings rather than the little critters like you see in Lembeh. Did you see those pelagic?

Hi...we did not see the Barracuda Tornado...not even a Barracuda. We enormous schools of bumphead parrot fish but we missed out on the Barracuda Tornado. My camera is ok with videos of large fish and scenes however, it's not that great with photos.

    Where did you stay?

I didn't get lucky to see the barracuda either though I have had some great luck a couple of other places.

Hi I stayed at the resort Kapalai-Sipadan. It was one of those up on stilts.

I know it. Thank you. How was the diving at the resort? Is the place pretty run down? It was newish way back when I was in the area.

Enormous schools of Bumphead Parrotfish is still a good treat! I had to go to Liberty Wreck in Tulamben, Bali at 5am to get that scene.

This resort is growing. Minus the lack of WiFi it was nice. I was not a fan of the food but I am picky.

Nice shot of Bargibanti! If you are not the first one at the scene or miss the first shot, you end up getting butt shot. After getting blinded by the flashes, it tends to give you its rear end.
