Smilies?

This is just a curiousity thing. For my standard winky and smily I always just enter it as text. What bugs is that what happens when I do so is inconsistant. More often than not a ':' and a ')' get turned into a graphical smiley, but sometimes they don't. I can't seem to find a pattern to it. Anybody have a clue why?

Smilies use pattern mathcing so if ; + ) makes today it will tomorrow as well. Spaces, slight changes or simply clicking "disable similes in this post" will of course make the smilie not render properly.

I think you are used to turning into which it obviously does not anymore.
