I have Ulead Video Studio 10, and Adobe premier elements 3.
Both claim to handle HiDef, I like the Adobe better.

As far as storage I 've found it takes about 15 gig for an hour of HiDef video.

That's comparable to mini-DV where ~ 9 min = 2 GB. I guess I can use my current hard drives.

Dr. Bill , do you know if the A/V output is working if the camcorder is in HD mode, if is working that means it is down-converting to DV. I'm curious to know because I also have a 2.5"LCD monitor that I can use in my housing. I was under the impression that will work with my HC1 only if the camcorder will record in DV mode. Regarding HC3 performance not everybody is happy in comparison to HC1m chek this link http://www.sonyhdvinfo.com/showthread.php?t=8008.

Good question and one I've thought of, but hoped the answer is that it will work IF I output through the RCA plugs to the monitor. Will be testing this when my dive buddy returns from vacation with his camera.
