SSI - Underwater Archaeology Specialty Course - YouTube


The course will be held in Medulin near Pula (Croatia) from Tuesday 05 November to Sunday, November 10, 2013 on the archaeological site of Vizula.


Course Program
The program includes a theoretical and 5/6 dives practical lessons at the sea. The practical lessons consist of learning the ability to draw a map of the archaeological site, underwater navigation, photo documentation of how to do an archaeological dig, etc...
The lectures, which will be held after work on the archaeological site, provide insights on what they have learned in practice. The entire course will take place directly on a real archaeological site at the maximum depth of 5 meters.


Required equipment
All students must be in possession of their own diving equipment also complete with tanks and weights. It is advisable to bring a quantity of weights higher than that normally used and an outline suitable for water temperatures of about 17-19 degrees celsius. In case of bad weather, we also recommend the use of waterproof clothing and rain boots to stay dry in land too. · Minimum age 18 years
· Medical certificate of good health
· Open Water Diver, CMAS *, ... diving card
· Insurance
· Passport number


Prices and availability
The cost of the course including the diving card after the exam is €360. The accommodation will be arranged for those interested in Rovinj (35 km from the archaeological site of Vizula) in a private house at the price of 20 euro per person per day. The number of course participants is limited and therefore we ask you to confirm your attendance no later than Monday, October 21, 2013 to plan and to better organize all the necessary documentation for the course and the course itself.
