Hi,

Anyone in the St Louis area need a dive buddy? I am relatively new to the sport and want to get a bunch of diving in this year. I just completed my AOW.

My wife is not a diver, rather she's into snorkeling, which is fine, but, she can't act as a dive buddy. We're going to Ocho Rios in May.

Drop me a note if you're interested.

Hi Brian, welcome to SB!
There are a lot of people on SB from your area, I'm certain you'll hear from them.
Congrats on the AOW.
Have you tried Bonne Terre?

welcome aboard!

i think the people closest to you will be in our
Deep South Divers club... check them out

Brian,

I "organize" a number of local St. Louis divers who like to go diving for fun, both locally and on trips. You can e-mail me to get on the group e-mail list at deepblue@the-skull.com or you can check out our schedule on the local divers' bulletin board, http://www.bubblemakers.net/ . I post our schedule under General Diving Chat, in the thread called "Fun-dive schedule". Hope to see ya this summer.

And welcome to SB. :wavey: Good place to learn, compare, argue. :krach: Put us in your Favorites and check in often.

Uh, Andy - we have more than one state that starts with an "M." Missouri is not often considered part of the Deep South. Click here http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/USclimate/states.fast.html and look west of Kentucky and Illinois... :D

"closest" is the key word there, Don

and who would want to dive a lake, great as that lake may be?

*ducks*

I want to dive lakes, great and otherwise, as often as possible. In addition to the cool fishies and crawfish, we get to observe rock walls, dams, wrecks, and swim through submerged trees. Plus our gear is almost always clean and rinsed from the dive, ready to pack away without worries over salt corrosion. And you can remove, adjust, and replace your mask underwater without burning your eyes with salt water. And we can pick what water temp we want to dive in according to depth and which lake we select for a given weekend. Plus, only a 3-hour drive from home rather than 12+ or an airplane ride--weekend fun on a budget!

Welcome to the board, Brian.

I meet a lot of divers from St. Louis when I go down to Mermet: http://www.mermetsprings.com/
It's about a two hour drive for you. I'll be there this weekend with a group from my LDS.
Also, check out the Great Lakes Wrecking Crew: http://scubaboard.com/f188.html
We're planning a few get togeathers this summer.

:bang: Feelin' kinda sparky there, eh amigo? Come on up - we'll show you what a real wreck looks like. We like watching you Florida guys when you hit that first thermocline - I wouldn't have believed eyeballs could do that kind of stuff and still work.

:54:Oh, yeah, and welcome to the board, Brian. You'll have to learn to ignore some of these WWW - all that sun they're exposed to has cooked their brains.
