Stockton is one of the clearer lakes in the area, but Beaver Lake in Arkansas is wonderful almost year round (except around July 4th, Memorial Day, and Labor Day).

I have seen Beaver with better then 30` vis. Some times sitting on the bottom looking up and can see my boat like I`m 5` away from it. But most of the time its around 20`
http://www.Diver-Sixx.com I`ve only been 135` but I`ve talked to tec divers that say 218`.

Hey nagel,

I got a little more info for you. I have found a map that shows U/W topography, depths, and items of interest. The map shows a max depth of about 100'.

The items of interest are mainly submerged roads, an old bridge, and a stone wall. There are also many foundations.

I picked the map up for about $10, so let me know if you are interested.

I will be able to let you know more soon. I am going to dive there either tomorrow, or the weekend at the latest. Will let you know.

Oh, yeah. The owner of the marina said that when the water temp hits about 50 degrees, that it is not uncommon to find 40 ft. or better vis.

Anyway, I will keep you updated.

OK, I just got home and thought that I would let you all know how it went.

I went to Mile Long Bridge (HWY 215), and got in the water at 11:20 to check out my weights. Everything was OK so I followed the contour down to about 45 ft.

Water temp at the surface was 45F. Vis was not great at about 10-15 ft. However, the owner of the marina says that about the time the water hits 50 F, the vis will increase to about 35-45 ft. He says the water gets crystal clear (for a midwest lake!!).

Anyway, the 2nd dive was down to 50 ft, and the vis was not really any better. but still good enough to see what you were doing. Like I say, these were dives just to practice skills. The water temp at 50 ft was 40 F.

Saw a few fish, some mussels, and an old hat. Plus a lot of cans and bottles that I plan on taking care of next trip (Saturday, I hope).

On the map, I bought the map at Orleans Trail Marina (where I also get my tanks filled), the web site is www.orleanstrail.com , and the phone number is (417) 276-5161. I don't know if they will ship, although I assume that they will. If not, let me know and we will work something out.

Hope this helps,

Dark Wolf

Hey nagel,

I have logged a few more dives at Stockton, and have some topside pics. I am also going to try a few more dive sites the end of this week. If interested, let me know and I will e-mail you some pics (unless I figure out how to post them here on the board)!!

Anything else I can do to help, let me know.
