Do ya'll still hang cattle rustlers in Texas?

No, but this myth is perpetuated frequently.

Texas uses only lethal injection for executions. The only states that still have hanging available as a method of execution are New Hampshire and Washington.

Cattle Theft:

Less than 10 head; State Jail Felony; 6 months to 2 years in state jail; up to $10k fine.

More than 10 head; 3rd Degree Felony; 2 to 10 Correctional Facility; up to $10k fine.

Now, if the rancher catches you in the act and shoots ya dead...well, that's a whole other thing and Texas frequently lets folks off for this...or at least "fails to indict". I would think if he strung ya up though, that might get a different reaction from a Grand Jury.

I had a couple guys bring in some gear the other day, but it was nothing on your list and it was before you were broken into.

That doesn't mean it wasn't the same guys. Maybe it's an ongoing enterprise and they think they've found a source (divers, who often identify themselves with window stickers) of high value, easy to sell loot.
